I love gel eyeliners, especially during the fall and winter months. They are way easier to work with than liquid and they really help achieve the perfect winged liner look that I love to wear as the weather gets colder. About a year ago I happened upon the L'oreal Infallible Gel Eyeliners and instantly fell in love.
I have three shades and I will break down my review for each shade.
173 Espresso
This is the first shade I added to my collection and I instantly fell in love with the color, pigmentation, and even the brush that came with it. I actually almost threw out the brush because in the past I have been completely disappointed by horrible brushes/applicators that come with drugstore makeup. This brush, however, made me a believer that drugstore makeup brushes could not only be useful but actually awesome in and of themselves.
Ok, enough brush love and back to the liner. This shade is great for an everyday look and is super easy to work with. The pigmentation is opaque and dark enough to show up well but not so much that you have to worry about over doing your liner. The formulation sets pretty quickly and lasts a good 8 hours. I don’t know about the 24 hour claims since I usually remove my makeup as soon as I get home for the day.
171 Blackest Black
After my awesome experience with Espresso, I quickly ran out and scooped up this shade. I soon noticed that the formulations for these liners are no all the same.
I found this one to be supper opaque and a bit wetter of a formula. A little definitely goes a long way with this shade. If used sparingly, it lasts at least 8 hours and my wing doesn’t flake off on the edges like I’ve experienced with other gel liners.
172 Navy
Unfortunately, this is my least favorite out of the three. I had high hopes that this would be just as pigmented as the other two.
The formulation for this color is streaky and and not as opaque as the black and brown shades. It lasted 8 hours like the other two shades. I rarely find myself reaching for this shade mostly because it is such a pain to build up the pigmentation. This is the only real dud of the three. I hope this is a fluke and I am temped to buy another navy just to see. Also, if anyone has also experienced the same thing with this color, let me know down in the comments.
Overall, I love these liners and I think they are great quality for the price (around $9.99 each). If you get a chance, you should definitely pick them up the brown and black shade.
